Angeles CityAngeles City

Angeles City is derived from El Pueblo de los Ángeles or “The Town of the Angels” in honor of its patron saints as well as its founder, Don Ángel Pantaleón de Miranda. The city is divided into 33 barangays and manages itself separately from Pampanga. The city experiences a dry season from November through April and a wet season from May through October.

There is a multitude of cultural and historical sites. Also, the city houses Korea Town (a chain of Korean establishments), woodcarving establishments, a central entertainment district (PAGCOR and the infamous red light district, Fields Avenue) as well as public markets that attract people from nearby towns.

Angeles City is one of the centers for business, entertainment, fitness, food and industry in Central Luzon.

Speech of Ambassador Francis Chua

pol-speech-ambassador-chuaChairman Marco Nepomuceno & his better half, Lourdes, President Villanueva Jr., Colleagues in the chamber movement, ladies and gentlemen, good evening.

Allow me first to congratulate the new officers and board of directors of the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCII).  I also would like to salute President Francisco Villanueva Jr. who is brave enough to accept the challenge to lead your organization, right after Chairman Nepomuceno. Certainly, it is hard to emulate the performance of Chairman Nepomuceno.

From its humble beginnings four decades ago, your chamber has become one of the most dynamic and strongest chambers having won repeatedly the Most Outstanding Chamber in North Luzon given annually by PCCI.

Thank you for being an active partner of PCCI in its various activities and advocacies particularly in the areas of micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME development, tourism, and environment.

As the premier voice of business in the area, MACCII plays critical role in the development of the region. We thus hope that the enthusiasm, dedication and commitment demonstrated by the previous officers will be equaled or if not surpassed by the new officers.

In return, let me also assure you of the continued full support of the PCCI Board to your chamber.

I also would like to laud MACCII for its pioneering efforts to help protect and manage our environment through its Green Philippines Project. This project has brought honor not only to Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCII) but to our country as well having been featured as one of the best practices in the recent Copenhagen Climate Summit. Indeed, this is a big fete for chamber.

In fact, PCCI will replicate this project in other parts of the country particularly in the National Capital Region and the CALABARZON area. We are counting your support on this.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank you for being an active partner of PCCI in its various activities and advocacies particularly in the areas of micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) development, tourism, and environment.

Let me take this opportunity to share with you about the prospect for recovery in 2010 and the thrusts and programs of PCCI.
